Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam has recently established the University Centre for International Cooperation (UCIC), with a view to facilitating the positive aspects of the process of internationalisation of higher education in the University system. The Centre will strive to identify and address the issues and concerns in the realm of Higher Education triggered by the GATS agreement and the WTO. Specifically, those matters related to privatization and commercialization of Higher Education in the wake of the entry of private as well as foreign Universities into India. The UCIC will facilitate collaborative teaching and research between the academic departments of the University with institutions of repute from abroad and promote mutually beneficial exchange of students, research scholars and teachers.
Institutional membership in International Academic bodies, credit recognition and transfer, short term academic modules for visiting foreign students, financial support to M.G.U. Students to pursue study abroad programme with the support of various national and International agencies are among the objectives of the Centre.
The Programmes and Activities the UCIC will be governed by an Advisory Committee, with the Vice Chancellor as its Chairman.
